Joe Marshall is a woodblock printer and pyrography artist in Tucson, AZ. Pyrography, literally “fire writing,” is the process of applying controlled heat to wood using metal wire, in a method that mimics a more standard pen & ink. While pyrographers today work with more modern tools, this art form - also known as wood burning - is hypothesized to be amongst the oldest in human history. Joe also cuts and carves the reclaimed local woods he uses himself, creating entirely one-of-a-kind work both inspired by, and crafted of, his surroundings.
